Yap Audio to Text

Yap Audio to Text is a free transcription tool for audio and video files. Drop in an MP3, M4A, WAV or video file and get editable text, plus SRT or VTT subtitles with real start and end times. OpenAI's Whisper speech model runs inside your browser, so the file is never uploaded to a server and nothing is stored on our side. Choose English only mode, or Any language mode, which covers 99 languages with the language detected automatically (speech is transcribed in its own language, never translated). Files up to 60 minutes and 300 MB are supported. The audio is cut at natural pauses, so every subtitle line gets accurate timing. You can edit the transcript right in the page, copy it, or save it as a .txt file. The one-time model download is cached by your browser, so later runs start faster. There is no sign-up and no card. It works best in desktop Chrome or Edge. Typical uses include interviews, lectures, podcasts, meeting recordings, subtitles for videos and accessibility notes.
